![]() He explained he would use his multi tester to check the wiring on his next visit. He showed me lots of the wires in the loom in the engine compartment and he said sometimes they get hot and they melt together and this can cause a fault. and there must be a fault which is usually a live to earth. the glow from the tester was dull he explained this looks like it's drawing about 1.5 amps. which he said was to high and he would confirm the correct amps & volts when he brings his multi meter, he then connected the tester to another terminal within the same electrical block. When he connected it to one terminal of the electrical block the bulb was very bright, he then connected the tester to the battery to show me that the bulb was glowing at the same brightness level, which he explained to be about 12v. He had a continuty tester which had a bulb that would light and connected the tester to a connector block which was on the air filter housing ( that's what it looked like to my inexperenced eye. He forgot to bring his electrical multi tester, he said their was an electrical fault on the turbo side. He cleared 3 of them via temporary repairing the turbo boost hoses until we can purchase new ones. The diagnostic tester confirmed 4 turbo faults. As I started the vehicle to drive into my garage he said I can hear an air leak from you turbo. He used the ODB and another diagnostic tester. The mobile mechanic came today, really pleasant and knowledgeable. Hi Glend, this is an update on the water in the engine sump. ![]() No puddles of oil or water under the vehicle.Įdit/Delete Message Reply With Quote Multi-Quote This Message Quick reply to this message Cheers ! PS there is no signs of oil or oil emulsion in the coolant tank, but there is signs of water droplets and emulsion inside the oil filler cap on the engine. Please not to many finger pointing at me saying that I should have known better. If Sticky, GlenD reads this or any other knowledgeable person I look forward to jeepers useful and knowledgeable advice. One experienced One friendly jeep mechanic said it may not be that bad once its diagnosed it may be an easy fix. The cost in rectifying the problem is my main concern, jeep mechanic's that I have contacted say that this could cost thousands, which I am not looking forward to paying. The jeep will be flat bedded over the weekend and an experienced jeep mechanic with the correct tools and knowledge will find the fault. I won't actually know until the engine has been inspected. Yes I know I am guessing at to what the defect is. The easiest and cheapest repair from our conversations would be if the 4) water pump or 5) oil cooler was the problem. Another jeep mechanic said he doubted if the water was entering via a defective head or head gasket as this was not a common problem with the KJ engine, due to the design and material of the head, he mentioned water jackets etc. The worst scenario he said was the 1) oil pump internal housing could be corroded, which means engine out.( I don't know but assume the engine has to be taken out to rectify if this is the defect, 2) head gasket blown, head may be cracked or warped. ![]() He straight away said this is a major issue. I managed to locate a very good jeep mechanic Mark, from off Road World on the Gold Coast, as I live on the Gold Coast. My first thought was oh SH!! and then I thought head gasket and the issues that come from this. The expansion tank was empty, when I checked the dip stick it was light grey in colour, I straight away realised water had entered the sump. please don't berate me as I am not a mechanic. Once home I decided to check the oil and water. I also assumed it was driving like this because the limp mode had activated because of the supposed turbo issues as stated by the previous owner. After purchasing the jeep and then driving the vehicle home at a snails pace ( I assumed the engine limp mode had activated) I had a slow but comfortable drive. the seller said it was a turbo issue as she was a sweet old lady( Yes I fell for her story at my own costly expense and I should have realised some people are dishonest). I purchased the jeep knowing it had problems, The engine light was showing on the dash. Hi Sticky I have just purchased a 2005 Cherokee KJ Diesel 2.8 Turbo.
